Story Behind the Song
Begun in 1972 with Fred's first experience with hunger on a grand scale, he was crazed with joy over several decades only to become sane again to see clearly through the pane of grief, and so it was finally finished! (c.2002)
Lyrics
(verse 1)
O the fire, starry rain;
sweet desire, heart and brain.
Recollections fill the air,
goin against the grain.
O the hunger, joy, and pain.
(tag line twice)
(verse 2)
Deep emotions, surface games,
Goin' through changes, yet stayin' the same.
Recollections fill the air,
Goin' against the grain.
O the hunger, joy, and pain!
(tag line twice)
(bridge)
Should I do this, did I do that?
Who has that much time?
If I can't have the reasons,
I'll settle for the rhymes!
(verse 3)
Oh, the fire; starry rain,
Sweet desire, heart and brain.
Resurrection fills the air,
Goin against the grain;
O the hunger, joy, and pain.
(tag line twice)
