Story Behind the Song
This song came as a result of a session with Jeremy Hilbert, & Judah Melton. The foundation of the song was laid there, they then brought it to the rest of the band, and it continued to evolve. We actually made a major last minute change by introducing a distorted guitar break every 2 progressions in the verses just minutes before doing this take. It turned out to kind of make the song.
Lyrics
I take a look outside,
And what do I see?
The sun is shining brightly,
But not on me.
The worst thing about all of this
Is that the day after next
Will be the worst you see.
Another Cold Monday Morning
When all you want is heat,
And some sun to call your own.
I haven't been this far down
In so long.
My stomach growls, my fingers shake,
And I don't know how I'm still awake.
That pretty much sums up my day,
Everything at my feet
Just keeps dragging me down.
Another Cold Monday Morning,
When all you want is heat,
And some sun to call your own.
Words can't describe my defeat,
So I smoke and I think, escape and I drink.
Cause that's all anybody wants,
To get outta their seat.
So you pick it up and put it down,
In your own kind way.
Free with your own disease.
Another Cold Monday Morning,
When all you want is heat,
And some sun to call your own.
Another Cold Monday Morning,
With nothing to eat,
Except your heart inside your throat.
Another Cold Monday Morning,
No way to escape,
Nothing Tuesday can replace.
