Story Behind the Song
Leo actually came up with a good chunk of the lyrics, and even one of the main riffs, but hadn't played through the song once when it came time to record it. The lyrics may not be the most interesting, but we think the music should more than make up for it... in theory at least
Lyrics
The Long Way Through
Places I'll never live to see
Running through my Mind
People I'll never live to meet
In this daily grind
Things I'll never get to do
How can you carry so much regret with you
Why don't you come along with me
Out to old Idaho
Things we'll see and never do
No time for the long way through
Fields of green and skies so blue
No regrets for the long way through
Passed it up, skipped right by
Now it's almost time to die
Almost time to die
Lost in a sea of anonymity
We all drown before we get the chance to see
Sink or swim it's all up to you
Find that one thing that you're driven to do
Why don't you come along with me
Out to old Idaho
Things we'll see and never do
No time for the long way through
Fields of green and skies so blue
No regrets for the long way through
Passed it up, skipped right by
Now it's almost time to die
Almost time to die
Shifting into high gear
Let's get out of here
We will have no fear
We will have no fear
Places I'll never live to see
Running through my Mind
People I'll never live to meet
In this daily grind
Things I'll never get to do
How can you carry so much regret with you
Why don't you come along with me
Out to old Idaho
Things we'll see and never do
No time for the long way through
Fields of green and skies so blue
No regrets for the long way through
Passed it up, skipped right by
Now it's almost time to die
Almost time to die
