Story Behind the Song

Mellow LA
Great chord changes in the verse! Nice to hear something other than 1,4,5 for a change... great performances too... the one small complaint I have is the harmony in the chorus - sounds a little too crafted, not enough felt... but I like this tune quite a bit... it's got a real relaxed LA sound... nice job.

Review by Paul Newbury
Introduction here is powerful, energetic and instantly emotional. Beautiful melody throughout. I love the synth chords. The drum groove throughout is superb : there is a very balanced pace and sense of phrasing. The way the chords are altered in order to change to another verse is very well done. The parts where there are pauses are great : the various rolls and embellished strokes on the toms and snare drum are executed in a very musical fashion. The use of embellished snare strokes placed discretely at various points is absolutely great. The vocals and the overall band feel/atmosphere is really engaging and the overall piece possesses a very soothing texture which results in great musical pleasure. Excellent music. Paul Newbury

Good stuff
Good songwriting! Well played, good singer with an 'I'm talking to you' voice. Nice melody, good arrangement. Each section is well distinguished from the other, an apparently dying art called structure. I'd like to hear the singer slide up the scale somewhere, like in the hook or the ending. That's the only gripe, that it stays in a narrow range. Kewl chordings, too. Good job.

Lyrics
It never came out right
To write a song about a tiny fight
So I Dropped my pen and spent the weekend trying to turn out the lights
It always turned out wrong to turn our drama right into a song
If I cross that Line it ruins our shine and records only spin so long
I cant do you justice with just words and a turn around
I sang and I never found a voice that fit you
and theres such a long list of tunes with your kinda sound
I played and I never found a note thats "just you"
I shouldnt feel so bad cause bad makes the riffs....so sad
but trips in the car are better by far switching for hurt through the ads
I cant even begin to think of all the songs that seem to win...
In your top forty past that went so fast...
now all you have is my stupid grin......
Chorus... Instrumental Section...... Chorus
