Story Behind the Song
Tyler has been perfecting Expectation song for two years, drawing inspiration from many sources, both contemporary and classical. He began writing this song the summer of 2001. He forgot about it for six months. After that period of time, he re-wrote the lyrics, changed the order of the song, and decided to add a violin part. Scott Von Duyke quickly improvised a violin line the first time he heard it, and expanded on it every time it was played after that. The recording captured one of Scott’s many improvisations.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Time flies by and because it’s so short, I ask myself,
am I living for something that will last through tomorrow?.
It’s You
Verse 2
I look to the cross and how You give salvation.
I give to You all of my dedication.
Soon I hope.
Chorus
Soon I hope.
When you believe.
In the meantime, I’ll try.
Never alone.
Chorus
End
