Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song on my front porch after coming home from a spending a summer with this girl whom i really cared for... and who is now my girlfriend... It all bubbled out of me until it was done...
Lyrics
Across the distance,
I know your breathing,
But You’re so far away,
I can no longer hear it.
Across the spaces,
That lie between us.
I know your sleeping,
But I can no longer see it.
And I,
Can still smell your hair on my face.
And I,
Can still feel your head on my shoulder.
And I,
Can still feel your heart beating, close to mine.
And I,
Can still remember when, all we had was time.
Beyond the miles,
That draw us apart.
I can still hear your voice,
Inside of my heart.
Inside of my memories,
There you dwell.
Until we’re together again,
The waiting is like hell.
And I,
Can still smell your hair on my face.
And I,
Can still feel your head on my shoulder.
And I,
Can still feel your heart beating, close to mine.
And I,
Can still remember when, all we had was time.
And I,
Hear distant echoes of our laughter.
And I,
Feel tears well up and bleed down.
And I,
Count my breath and the days till you’re here with me.
And I,
Am waiting for you to come home to my arms. (outro then repeat this line)
