Simply put: This is a song about living your dream rather than trying to fit the expectations of others. And you're on a timeline, you don't live forever so, get on with it. |
CD: Unreleased

Story Behind the Song
This song was written to myself. I sold my share of a partnership in a robust environmental contracting company to move to Key West where I could play guitar and sing and write songs for a living. I realized that I was trying to be something I wasn't meant to be and that I'd spent most of my life doing that. It was time to be the musician I was born to be even if it meant that I'd missed my chance for the "Big Time". This song is meant to encourage others to do the same.
Actually, I'm still working on production issues and hope to release this song on a new CD by the end of 2003.
Lyrics
TIMELINE
VERSE 1:
So, you say you want to be a dancer.
You tell me that has always been your dream.
But, you say you don’t like taking chances.
So, you contrive some easy scheme.
You justify an empty life.
You take pills to ease your strife.
CHORUS:
You are living on a Timeline.
with no time-outs and no time-ins.
Not like the games you play with children.
You start the game and then, you play
until it ends; whoa-oh until it ends; yeah-ah until it ends.
VERSE 2:
So, live your dream. Go be that dancer.
If that’s who you are you soon will see.
Take the risk and be it’s romancer.
Go out and be who you need to be.
Don’t give a thought to what they say.
Don’t let ’em have another day.
CHORUS
You are living on a Timeline
with no time-outs and no time–ins.
Not like the games you play with children;
You start this game and then you play
until it ends; whoa-oh until it ends; yeah-ah until it ends.
SOLO
BRIDGE
Maybe you’ll never hit the big time
Maybe you won’t find fortune or fame.
But, you’re on this earth for such a short while
And, you’ve got to play to win the game.
Go on, get out there while you can.
And, give ‘em hell when you dance!
CHORUS & OUTTRO
You are living on a Timeline
with no time-outs and no time–ins.
Not like the games you play with children;
You play this game until it ends.
You are living on a Timeline.
with no time-outs and no time-ins.
What good’s this life that you’ve been building
If it only leads you to dead-ends?
Into dead-ends; whoa oh oh, into dead-ends; yeah-ah into dead-ends.
You are living on a Timeline
with no time-outs and no time–ins.
Not like the games you play with children;
You start this game and then, you play until it ends.
