Jazz pop. Lots of vocals -- great harmonies. This is the best thing I've ever done -- it's a mythological vision about one of the lesser known Greek myths. This is for all the boys in this world who have ever been robbed of their childhood. I speak for those with no voice. And it's pronounced GAN-uh-meed.

    Story Behind the Song
I was re-reading some mythology one day (great source for ideas) -- and I rediscovered the tale of Ganymede, the mortal boy with whom Zeus fell in love. There are a few varieties to the legend, so I chose the one that I found most disturbing, and then I added flavors of my own. Zeus disguised himself as an eagle and kidnapped Ganymede for his youthful beauty. Zeus made him immortal and forced him to be his lover. Ganymede became the Olympian Cup-Bearer (or water-bearer), also known as Aquarius. The song is a metaphor -- and should be seen as a warning to anyone who refuses to acknowledge the importance of protecting our children from the monsters in this world.

    Lyrics
    Ganymede

The gods on Olympus were sleeping that night
When Ganymede stood by the river
    Would he fall down?
    Or maybe he'd drown
While Diana's moon made a sliver
    And oh, he's crying
    He La...
Zues woke to hear all the tears from below
As Ganymede swam in the river
    No wishing well
    Could cast such a spell
And oh, how that boy made him shiver
    Now he's dying
    He La...
The god fell in love with
    The boy on the shore
    The river caught Ganymede dreaming
    From so far away
    The legends all say
    He swept away Ganymede screaming
Hush, can't you feel we're flying?
    He La
    Nobody knows
    He La
    What this could feel like
    Hey La
    They won't remember your name
Ganymede lifted the cup to the lips
Of the god who had cursed him
    With immortal strains
    The beautiful boy
    Broken down while he grips
To the chalice filled from his veins
    Hey La
Ganymede crept from his prison one night
And ran to the edge of the river
    He wept in the tide
    With arms open wide
    Ganymede threw himself in
    And he drown
    And he drown
    He drown
    And he drown
    And he drown
    Hey La
    Nobody knows
    Hey La
    What this could feel like
    Hey La
You will all know my name
    Hey La
    Nobody knows
    Hey La
    What this could feel like
    Hey La
    Please, remember my name
I'm not far away from the god in me
