Story Behind the Song
Sir Forrest Monacle: "Domingo had decided to start recording phone conversations--everything from Sears leaving disparaging messages about his credit bill on his voice mail to him ordering pizza. He had this message from Josie, with whom he hadn't spoken to in a while, and thought it sounded quite nice. I told him having answering machine messages behind songs had been done a gazillion times before, but he maintained that there wasn't anything And So It Goes does that hasn't been done a gazillion times before by more potent artists. Touche. We found one of my old beats, worked it about, and voila. Thanks to Josie, whose real concern for Domingo led to this piece."
