Story Behind the Song
This song was recorded a couple years ago in my dining room with a pair of cheezy 4 track tape recorders and a buttload of fx. I first wrote the lyrics back in 85 while quite jaded, and wrote the music while recovering from a near fatal car crash in 1989. It was recorded over the space of a few days back in 95 to submit to the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. While I actually got an email about it, that's as far as it went, and I've been being bugged to release it ever since. Judging from the present state of the world, now seemed like a good time to release this abreviated version. The original is over 10 minutes long.
Lyrics
Day after Day, life slips away
struggling to an unknown end.
And nite after nite we
huddle in fright
of what the new day might send.
Ghosts of the past linger and last
still crying out in their pain.
They whisper to me and only i see
that the world's gone crazy and I am insane -
was it tomorrow, was it yesterday we declared war is over my friend?
And will all we destroy and all we create
show us the means to our end?
they say you must follow the games that they play
always the same, without change;
but they become afraid if
you go your own way;
to protect their world, they declare you deranged.
We blunder blind down an explosive path
destroying the world in the name of the free;
a whole world that's filled
with crazed psychopaths
who would nail their own kind to a tree.
The human race has become a disgrace
like they don't know better ways.
They plunder the earth,
and lay her to waste
it's always the same, never changes
day after day,
day after day.........
