	Story Behind the Song Marianna wrote this while watching people acting like they always do. Lyrics Oppression of the people is a terrible thing. People in power refuse to bring sanity into this maddening world. The children are hungry and the homeless are cold. The children are crying, the children are scared, the children are dying. The fire is burning. The spirit of the people is at an all time low. Lines at unemployment are moving too slow. The welfare office is full of despair no food for the chidren, no clothes to wear. The people are angry, the people are scared. The people are crazy. The fire is raging. It's time for the people to make a stand. Everyone of us throughout this land. The power comes from unity. If we all come together, then we are free. Lets come together and become one. Lets put out that fire. Then we can carry on.
