This was the first song I wrote for an original musical called "Sparks", which is based on a famous book & movie (I can't say which yet, as permission is pending). It is sung by a character who is a man of faith but has many questions in his life. |
CD: "Sparks"
Label: demo
Credits: music & lyrics by Joel-Steven; all vocals by Joel-Steven |
Story Behind the Song
Inspired by the acapella harmonies of Rockapella & The Nylons. The song will be reprised twice later in the musical with to different arrangements and sets of lyrics, each bring a different take on the meaning of the title.

“Leap Of Faith”

1.
To think that the world in it’s beauty.
Just appeared accidentally;
And that it all, happened without a Grand Design
The thought of it boggles my mind.
2.
The thought that the world was created.
By one God seems to ’ve faded.
And that we all wanted to worship mankind first;
The center of our universe.
Chorus:
So we should just take a step back, and take some time.
‘Cause to see the truth we might have to climb
To the highest heights just to see it all;
But don’t be afraid, it’s no shame to fall on your face
If you take a leap of faith
3.
Then I see the world and God’s creatures;
Small details, and fine features,
And hear the tales, how they all sprang from cells and pods
Without an assistance from God.
(Now, isn’t that odd?)
4.
In this world man has contended:
The bible’s wrong - that time has ended,
That God is dead, and we must forge ahead alone;
Forgetting what we’ve always known.
Chorus:
So we should just take a step back, and take some time.
‘Cause to see the truth you might have to climb
To the highest heights just to see it all;
But don’t be afraid your guided by honor and grace
When you take a leap of faith.
