	Story Behind the Song Out of the original four-track cassette demos, “Turn It Up” was created second. The drum loops, clavinet, and synth-bass tracks still survive from the pre-production stages of the song’s existence. First envisioned as a Meters-esque instrumental piece, “Turn” quickly switched directions after the addition of vocals by Mista Swift St. Charles. Of note within the track is Don Gauck’s slide guitar solo and Matt Green’s key-musings, performed on a vintage Arp String Ensemble.
