This is the most personal song I have written to date.
It is about my going through chemotherapy, and how I dealt with it's effects.
The title came from my boyfriend at the time, who said I was "always guilty of Playing down" my illness.
The song is pretty self-explanatory |

Lyrics
Playing it down
verse
He's the kind of guy who likes to stay all alone
Staring out the window, waiting for the phone
to ring ring ring and it's not for him
and he knows
and he knows
He's not feeling like himself, his body is falling apart
He wants to ask for help but doesn't know where to start
and he knows
that you know that
pre-chorus
He is gulity of playing it down
He's feeling tired from the pain
like a prisoner bound
and aching to be free
he's missing the sounds of the laughing
chorus
But,
It's alright, it's ok
it's alright, it's ok
it's alright
it's ok
Verse2
There is a certain danger in the way that he feels
Numbing isolation and the emotions
it steals
like a thief in the night lost without sight
And he knows
and he knows
But what's a couple of months when there's a long life to live?
He's fighting for a chance that only God can give
and he knows
that you know that
pre-chorus
he is gulity of playing it down
He's keeping it inside
like a poor wounded clown
Who just wants to smile again
He misses the sounds of the laughing
chorus
it's alright, it's ok
it's alright, it's ok
Brige,
There's a Lesson to be learned
From every corner that you turn
He turns left
instead of turning right
He's not blind,
but what's the use of sight?
