This our first song recorded at my house for a demo cd. We did it in two takes. The sound quality is not too great, but the song is powerful and has deep meaning to the band. | MP3.com CD: For A Short Time: Demo - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
This song deals with one of the biggest problems that America faces today, child abuse, and the failure of mainstream society to do anything about it, as well as our own personal short comings in this area. Sometimes we pretend we don't see things; we don't want to interfere.
This song is to help get the word out, that child abuse is rampant, and we need to do everything we can to stop it. Report it, ask questions...don't turn away from it and pretend it's not happening.
Lyrics
Verse 1:
Black and blue you powered through, that's all I knew about you, and I didn't try to understand.
Verse 2:
22 yet I still withdrew. I didn't want to know you, and I didn't want to understand.
Chorus:
I turned away my eyes. Did it all fade away?
I tried to hide behind the lies and I turned away.
Verse 3:
Out of my mind, yet fresh on your head. I lived in comfort, while you lived in reality.
Verse 4:
My home sweet home, your home street hell. You suffered daily while I wallowed in my greed.
Chorus
bridge:
I turned away from you.
I turned away from the truth.
Chorus
