Story Behind the Song
I was itching to remix Entropy, one of my better progressive tunes, and after failing miserably the first time around, I started a new project in Fruityloops and everything seemed to come right out just the way I wanted it to. I began playing with new ideas, new ways to tweak samples, new ways to keep the drum line interesting, and 1 week later out popped this little 7-minute beauty. The original Entropy had no "official" bass line, it was simply the main melody with a hard cutoff at about 60 Hz, which made it sound like a bass line. So in this version, I decided a dedicated bass line would be necessary. After putting in the sample of the weird sawtooth/squack or whatever it is (anyone know??) then it really started to remind me of Entropy. But there was something missing. I needed an analog synth to back it all up. So I loaded a TS-404 in Fruityloops, set the parameters, added some filters and delays, wrote a quick arpeggio, and there it was. All I had to do next was decide when to play it and how to adjust the cutoff/resonance. It was all uphill from there. Within a few days I had 99% of the tune done, with only minor tweaks left to be tweaked and a few mastering effects to be applied. After waiting for the 2-hour render to complete, I quickly loaded up Cool Edit Pro and mastered it. I personally think this tune is mastered the best out of all my songs so far; it really helps when you know how the filters work =) Enjoy the tune and don't hesitate to drop any comments via e-mail.
