Story Behind the Song
The sun has always been one of my "connections" throughout my life. When I ride my paint horse through the streams and fields, I bask in the warm rays of the sun, and I also look to the sun, and feel its warm rays of enlightenment. At a very special ceremony, a Lakota friend played his Native American love flute, bringing peace and happiness to all guests and family present at my Cherokee wedding ceremony. After hearing such sounds coming from heaven, I knew then that I had to learn to play the Native American flute. I had never heard such a lovely, spiritual and tender instrument. He gifted me with a flute, and as I began to learn to play, it touched me so and moved me, that I began a journey that would take my heart back through the past, into the present...and sometimes seeing my own future as a father, husband, musician and Native American. This instrument of love and tenderness inspired my CD: "The Sun Chaser" Love Songs On Native American Flute.
Friends, do not take this title as how one who "chases the sun" literally, but take it as "chasing your dreams"..."chasing your destiny"..."chasing love", finding and needing love, remembering how it was...when you were so dearly loved, and you returned that love, or tried to. This CD is for all the people who believe in dreams...as I do.
This CD is for my son...my "tender mercies"...my little man...my heart...my life...may he grow into a fine, caring, and loving young man, and may he take all that is strong and good from his father...and all that is sweet, tender, and loving from his mother, a kind and giving woman.
This CD is also for you, my friends. I hope you enjoy these songs I have written, arranged, produced and performed for you...with heartfelt love in every note I played, because each and every one of you mean as much to me as a new "dawning day", or the sunlight through the trees in the afternoon. "Cherokee love songs…from a Cherokee man", is how one critic sees it. “Thanks” I said...but I think everyone will listen...and everyone will hear their song...that one song that they can relate too...just right...as the flute takes you to that place in the sun.
