Especially in this day and age it seems that people aren't willing to go against the crowd and help someone out if it will bring them ridicule. "Cultural suicide to care / When someone's fallen into the middle of the street / With everyone watching / Do you help them to their feet?" Great Sax work by a fellow OSUMBer Aaron Barnes!

    Story Behind the Song
Just sick and tired of watching Christians at church and at work not helping their brothers and sisters back up on their feet after they've fallen in a trial. Why would anyone want to give us the time of day and listen to what we have to say if we leave wounded and hurting people laying around? After all, Jesus came for the hurting and the sick, not the well. If they're to know us by our love, then we better start showing it by helping to pick people back up when they've fallen down.

    Lyrics
    Extend a hand in greeting
Pay fleeting interest to the answer given
    To "How are you doing?"
We let "Just fine" suffice between us

Afraid to dig much deeper down
We let things slide between us that we shouldn't
For though we're to hold accountable
    And shoulder one another's burdens
    We daren't break the ice

We leave knees bloodied, pants torn
Hearts thrown wide inviting others' scorn
    Cultural suicide to care
When someone's fallen into the middle of the street
    With everyone watching
Do you help them to their feet

It's all about love, it's all about love
It's all about picking one another up
It's all about love, it's all about love
Well that's what it's all about

For much has been forgiven us
Yet we can't seem to let
    The smallest slight pass by
Without affecting such a wounded mien
That one would be hard pressed to explain why

We profess to be so different
Still we leave a trail of wounded souls behind us
Why would they care to follow after
    This man Jesus
If all they see is us as

You see he said they'd know us by our love
Do they know us by our love
Will they know us by our love
We must show them by our love
