Story Behind the Song
Of all of Ken's songs, I love Painted Clouds and Fall into night (from Living Tragedy) the best. They don't so much depress me, but assure me that everyone goes through dark clouds, but sees the sunlight on the other side. I think its quite obvious that Ken feels pessimistic and unsure about love in this piece. I mentioned how I liked the song and he said "Its special to me. I like it too.." I got a instrumental version (There are only 20 of them) and just listening to the guitar without voice is quite magic. If you mail him, I'm sure he'd agree to put out some tracks from the instrumental version of Living Tragedy.
The version here is a raw acoustic, "teaser" .. (he liked it when I called it that) which captures a lot of the loneliness and sentiment, that the produced versions tend to veil. When he sent me the single md, he annoted it saying, this was more "real" and "..closer to how [he] wanted [his] music to be experienced.' The multi guitar version is also nice, but we won't get a ful version til january, or earlier if we email him enough..
This song like the other additional previews were recorded in perth, apparently in a friends lounge. Gives it a very grass roots feel.
