Story Behind the Song
The reason I wrote this song was because I was watching MTV (TRL was on) and I was sickened because they kept showing boybands' video. These girls were all screaming and freaking out over every video.I can't relate to it (it seems so foreign to me).But because they play it all day it gets stuck in your brain. The first verse begins with my love for music, the second verse and bridge talk about my frustration with music and the music business. The song took about 5 minutes, it was written in my living room. The version here was the second take, and we know we did well, so we didn't try it again. A second guitar was added, but everything else you hear was from the second take.
Lyrics
(VERSE 1)
I hear it loud and clear
Like a ringing in my ear
the broadband spectrum makes me tingle
(chorus)
hey oh, japanese radio playing in my head
hey oh, japanese radio driving me crazy
hey oh, japanese radio playing in my head
hey oh, japanese radio driving me crazy
(verse 2)
overcommication drowning
my soul is in excess
and all we keep on doing is feeding the cash cow
(CHORUS)
hey oh, japanese radio playing in my head
hey oh, japanese radio driving me crazy
hey oh, japanese radio playing in my head
hey oh, japanese radio driving me crazy
(BRIDGE)
they say they can make us dance
just leave your brain at the door
(CHORUS)
