Story Behind the Song
Lyrics written for a friend, song written in Ter Apel, Groningen, The Netherlands 2000. Took two or three days and a while to let it grow. About 3,5 minutes to record (one take).
Lyrics
Straying away from the core of banishment
Trembling, closing the door of dictatorship called “innocent”
Still hearing mutually the words and cries from all around
Emotional exile from once that save haven
My heart is scattered, rushing adrenaline through all veins
Overwhelmed by chaos, confusing that once so clear mind
Amazed by parental rejection which was never foreseen
My thoughts spoiled by abjectness, darkened by shrouds
Wondering if it is rain or tears flowing on my cheeks
The light at the end of the world is in sight
Yet only nothingness appears to be in reach
To be unaccepted is to be non-existent in one’s eyes
Though I will never, ever expostulate a disguise
My dignity expelled by the ones commanding to adapt
But I resist for I will never, ever change on one’s behalf
Remembering that I am most important in my life
Reason raped by distorted enigma’s, concealed by fears
Wondering if it is wind or voices blowing in my ears
The light at the end of the world is in sight
Yet only nothingness appears to be in reach
To be unaccepted is to be non-existent in one’s eyes
Though it’s out of the question to expostulate a disguise
