Story Behind the Song
I was asked to compose a song for a friend's wedding, and this is what i came up with.
Good Afternoon, Ladies & Gentlemen; for those of you who don't know me, I'm Paul.
and I'm lucky enough to be Robert's Best Man.
I have to say the Bridesmaids look wonderful and have done an excellent job today.
Now I'm only going to speak for a couple of minutes because of my throat
if I go on too long Jennifer has threatened to cut it, so I will keep it short.
SO PLEASE KEEP ME ABREST OF THE TIME
Now if you know Robert you are aware of what an outstanding director & producer he is and looking over at Jennifer, it is abundantly certainly clear that he excelled in the dating arena as well. He found the most loving and beautiful person inside and out to be his wife Jennifer.
I think that Robert and Jennifer have learned over the years that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved and the rest is up to them.
DOES SOMEONE HAVE THE TIME?
Before I make the toast, I have a few words of wisdom I'd like to pass on.
To Jennifer:
If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was, and always will be yours.
If it never returns, it was never yours to begin with. If it sits in your room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses the telephone, takes your money, and never behaves as if you set it free in the first place, you either married it or gave birth to it.
To Robert:
The key to a happy marriage is to remember these three little words:
" You're right, dear!"
Now, I will toast the happy couple, because in all seriousness, I think that they were made for each other. May you love be modern enough to survive the times, and old fashioned enough to last forever. To the Bride and Groom's future happiness.
