Like all good breakup songs, this one uses heavy melody and a mellow, sweet nature to point the finger. Guitar, mandolin, banjo, bongos, and harmonies accuse, "You big coward" in the nicest way possible. There's a bit of a twang here, but the overall effect is nice. |

Lyrics
Well, time flies-- that's what they say-- when you're having fun, and I was then. I was then. Was there a special reason I just didn't know for you to walk away and never look back there? Back there? Back then when we were so happy?
I know. You're gonna find yourself a little place to hide and turn your face away. Because it's easier that way. And I guess I should realize this is as good as it gets, and I should just forget. Because it's all gone away.
Well, some day I will look back and laugh, they say. I doubt that. I doubt that. Down there when the smoke clears, I'll be holding on to what's sacred. And wasn't it YOU who said "Things work out when you WANT them?" Want them? One more lie in your repertoire of shame.
You're gonna find yourself a little place to hide and turn your face away, because it's easier that way. And I guess I should realize this is as good as it gets, and I should just forget. Because it's all gone away. (rinse and repeat)
