	Story Behind the Song This was one of the first acoustic songs I ever wrote. There was a time when I was in desperate search of my roots and heritage while I seemed to be stuck in a day to day routine I didn't belong. I spent the better part of five years living up north in the city of Louisville after living almost nineteen years in a small country town of Shepherdsville. To make a long story short, I wasn't happy, and I felt the ever growing urge to get back to the way things used to be when I was younger. The key lyrics " I want roots but I want wings" describes how I felt at that time when all I really wanted to do was get away from the things that were so very wrong in my life. All I really wanted to do was move back home (my home town) where I felt I belonged...back where I was from..thus pushing south.
