	Story Behind the Song I had started writting this song about a guy cruising around and see's a pretty girl walking down the sidewalk,when I got the idea to write it about the Hot August Nights event,and since the event was'nt to far off,that motivated me even more to write about it.The words and the melody came to me so quikly and easily,I think it took me only an hour to write this song Lyrics I'm going out on the town in my 64 a chevy that I bought about a year ago cruising down Virginia with my baby tonight were listening to the music and its feeling right with the moon and the stars so bright everybodies cruising round tonight everybodies celebrating on this Hot August Night People come all over from across the bay from Oakland Califonia down through San Jose Pheonix Arizona and New Mexico their even coming down out of Idaho cruising in a chevy 55 or a Plymouth thats been customized everybodies come to Reno for these Hot August Nights Everybodies cruising round tonight in the middle of a moonlit night with the music of the Platters on the stereo.
