    Story Behind the Song
    JESUS CAUGHT THE LAST TRAIN

    Music, like religion, will have numerous interpretations. Durso’s JESUS CAUGHT THE LAST TRAIN can be heard as man’s questioning ability to live up to religious ideals. It asks, “What happens to a society when it doesn’t maintain religious and moral principles”? It’s also a message about man’s yearning for new spiritual outlets, unfolding like a eulogy for traditional religions. Reminiscent of early 80’s pop, it sores above its radio peers with powerful lyrics and stunning, multi-level octave vocals.
    Durso wrote the lyrics to JESUS CAUGHT THE LAST TRAIN a month after Sept 11th. Legend says, he wrote it crossing Manhattan’s east river via the F train. Ground zero is on one side of the river and the Jehovah Witness Watchtower is on the other. The Watchtower is rumored to be the site of Jesus’ return.

    Lyrics
    JESUS CAUGHT THE LAST TRAIN
    Lyrics by James Durso
    Music by Robert Turely and Miquel Matues

    When you're in the flow,
    When you're in the zone;
    Its the feeling you get
    When you're moving on.

    When you're in the light
    And the morning comes,
    Its the feeling you feel
    When you're moving on.

    A runner feels it when he runs,
    The hunted feel it going under the gun.
    Surfer boys feel it dancing top of the ocean
    Out there under the sun.
    Killers feel it when they kill.
    My daddy felt it going over the hill.
    He never was happy standing still,
    Never happy till he got his fill.

    Jesus caught the very last train.
    Jesus caught the very last train.

    When you're in the light
    And the morning comes,
    You went under the gun,
    Under the knife.

    And the end of life
    Is the price of freedom;
    Under the gun,
    Under the knife.

    Jesus caught the very last train.
    Jesus caught the very last train.
