	Story Behind the Song Z'mirot, Shabbat table songs whose Hebrew and Aramaic lyrics continually serve as inspiration for new melodies, were crucial to the founding of Magevet. When Yale Hillel embarked upon the creation of a community bentscher, Magevet imagined a parallel project that would provide a glimpse into the sound of a Yale Shabbat for current Yalies, for alumni, and for the many communities that have welcomed Magevet into their homes. We hope that this album, recorded intentionally with straightforward, spontaneous harmonies rather than the complex arrangements on our repertoire albums, can be a way for singers and families eager to learn new songs to add to their own repertoire.
