Story Behind the Song
We are frustrated with the obstacles that we face as independant artists. This song was an opportunity to vent those frustrations. The song was very easy to write. I had the Beat sitting on my hard drive for about 4 years. The vocals were done in 1 or 2 takes. pretty easy stuff. lots of fun.
Lyrics
(HOOK) /You keep playing the same songs all the time / The people are tired of you trying to take us for our dimes / Were not stupid, we know your just trying to sell songs / But you don’t have to play the same songs all day long / Keep rollin, rollin, rollin, rollin / (Rollen On) (repeat) / the more money you spend the more time your song rolls / (VERSE 1) / What’s goin on? / Everyday the same old song / All the radios stations are bumpin the same rotations. / And then you buy the single cuz you know its hot / And then you play the rest of the CD is not / its funny, that this game is all about money / name recognition pennen fools to buy millions of units / but their rushing pumping out product without emotion / without their soul in it but yet it plays every 5 minutes / I’m not haten, money makes people famous / but where’s the real music? / And why don’t they play it on the radio / Sometimes they do, sometimes times they don’t / The more money you spend the more time your song rolls / No matter how it sounds except in underground / If your flows are coming foul You’ll be asked to step down / getting booed and clowned, in every city — town / don’t even grab the microphone unless your gonna put it down properly / poverty ain’t me, 3 million copies / triple-platinum master poetry / they finally playing us, discussing us across the land / Pharcyde Aceylone and RassCas / Are dope emcee’s, give em props to props are due / drop the ego and listen to the sounds that’s banging for you / drop the ego and listen to the sounds that’s banging for you / Keep rollin, rollin, rollin, rollin / Rollen On / (repeat) / the more money you spend the more time your song rolls / (HOOK) repeat..
