This is simply an anti-war song, written in response to the war in Iraq. I see it as a street corner, sing-along-with-the-chorus song.
Credits: Written by JJ Jennings. Vocal & acoustic guitar - JJ Jennings. Bass, acoustic guitar & backing vocal - Adrian Perrtore. Percussion - Michito Sanchez. Engineered by James Tinksley. Recorded at Mad Dog Studios, Burbank, CA

    Story Behind the Song
On Sunday, March 15, I took a walk and thought about the impending war in Iraq. Every person I passed on the street said hello and, passing one smiling lady, I thought that most of us are peaceful people. A melody came with the words and I decided that creating this song was not an option, it was a responsibility, and I spent the day on my bed with a guitar writing lyrics. By that evening it was mostly completed. I demoed it on Tuesday, decided it needed more, and called my friend Dusty Wakeman, owner of Mad Dog Studios in Burbank. Dusty gave me the use of his beautiful studio (Neve console, Pro Tools HD, etc.) for a day and I tracked the song on Sunday March 23.

The main guitar, bass and percussion tracks were all from the first take that we played together. Almost everything else was one take. Everything was recorded on ribbon mics except for the vocal (U-47) and the bass (direct). Michito Sanchez and Adrian Peritore made the process so easy, and James Tinksley didn't miss a beat as engineer. One of the most enjoyable sessions I've ever done.

    Lyrics
We are a land of different races and
Made up of people from so many places
Look into this - sea of faces
most of us are peaceful people

So how is it we raise our voice and
shout to the world this is not our choice
Decisions made from so far away
while most of us are peaceful people

So here we find ourselves at war
while so few of us know what we’re doing this for
A world of chaos will fly at our door
the door that leads to a peaceful people

    Chorus:
Most of us are peaceful people
In this time that seems unreal
Making peace is not that simple
Take a place as peaceful people

Whatever happened to the worlds greatest power that
we could come down to this dark an hour, and
fill the world with so much despair
when most of us are peaceful people.

And how is it that we have no say
when our so-called leaders put this war underway
And in the name of freedom blow a world away
then say we are a peaceful people

    Chorus:
Most of us are peaceful people
In this time that seems unreal
Making peace is not that simple
Take a place as peaceful people

Yesterday a whole world of friends came to stand by us - from end to end they made miles

But see how quickly that all turns around
with the powerful pushing the whole world around
and telling all we respect no bounds,
even if they’re drawn by peaceful people.

And when the world’s greatest fear is us
And our ruling powers have destroyed all trust
Sworn enemies will rise from the dust
of ruins where they were peaceful people

But I know the heart of my brother is good
I can see that heart here in my own neighborhood, and
in every place that I’ve ever stood
most of us were peaceful people

    Chorus:
Most of us are peaceful people
In these times that seem unreal
Making peace is no small deal, but
Most of us are peaceful people
