Story Behind the Song
wow tough one this there's quite a story but i'll try keep it brief. We'd been writing dnb together for a while n thought it'd be good if we pooled our efforts, sample banks, programs etc, 2 heads better than 1 yknow. It was written entirely in Dan's bedroom in our little cardboard house in Derby so we shook the house for time when we were writing.
The aim was to make something sicker and darker than either of us had written before. We found the vocal sample at the start on a sample CD when we were lookin for bass sounds and thought it was funny so we stuck it in there, it went well so it stayed in, that's where we got the name from cos it's a schpeil about womens lib.
We had loadsa technical problems with latency/midi delay and the computer locking up so halfway through writing, Dan had to back up and format his hard drive (after much wiggin' out at the damn machine) which cleaned everything up n ran things smoothly from then.
We started "Bitch-Slap" in early January '03 and it took about a month to finish, we weren't slaving away for a month solid cos we had uni work+other stuff to do (seasonal benders) but work was done on it most days, be it just a few minutes of editing each time or a full on mission.
We have some friends over in Nottingham; DJs Toxic and Smiler who mix this kinda stuff and they loved it when we took it over and hooked us up with DJs Lowkey and MacP who run a local dnb nite in the Blueprint club in Nottingham and they dropped it on minidisc there in mid Feb. Got a great reaction from the crowd considering the small number who were there but hey, it was quality just to hear our own tune through a 10k rig.
Vinyl is currently being investigated and more songs are on the way with an EP available on CD before the summer from local independant record stores (ie anyone who wants to flog our stuff).
Lyrics
None, except a load of amusing guys at the start heckling each other.
