Story Behind the Song
Stars is an upbeat song with a central theme of love and self adoration. However the lyrics do suggest a darker connotation of family troubles, which i hoped to contradict with the happiness of the chorus. I came from a loving family and very happy home life, so i felt it would be interesting to investigate a broken home and the outcome of a stronger person due to the terrible circumstances. It does end happily ever after in a disney-esque manner.
Lyrics
On my back staring at stars, my misconceiving starts
To take a beating from Daddy
Hide, the table feels my shakes, a tear so acid based
My dreaming shatters like glass breaks
All the days my dreaming brigade, my peace escapes my hate
My lace untied like my hope womb
And all the nights, they’re keeping me awake
The clock reflects my ache onto the wall of the whole dark room.
And as I close my eyes
I lose my disguise
Letting worries wash away like water
Broken, empty face smashed in my corner
Regretting dreams of hope and order…
Until you take my breath away
Bruises illuminate weak, I am losing strength at the knees
My suffering without witness
Regrets hold me back like bars, my only friends are the stars
A glorified sense of fitness
Severity of the mind, like gardens raped of shrines
Colours divorce images, show me, I will scream
A pure familys blurred line between you and me
The definition of lonely
And as I close my eyes
I lose my disguise
Letting worries wash away like water
Broken, empty face smashed in my corner
Regretting dreams of hope and order…
Until you take my breath away
And as I close my eyes
I lose my disguise
Letting worries wash away like water
Broken, empty face smashed in my corner
Regretting dreams of hope and order…
Until you take my, until you take my breath away now
Time loses track of me, I guess when c est la vie
Controls the depths that the roots remain in me
(Scat)
Its my Destination
Letting worries wash away like water
Letting worries wash away
Staring on up, you better watch that moon
Keeping it up and never peak too soon
Get on up, you gotta, you gotta
Get on up, you gotta stare on up and stop!
