    Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song in September/October 1990 following the invasion of Kuwait. The first three lines just wrote themselves! I hoped and believed that this song could prevent the war, and it might have done if it had been played on the radio. It wasn't! Recorded on a 4-track using an acoustic guitar and a Roland piano

    Lyrics
    Paths of Peace

You sold them tanks and guns and rockets too
Now you find that they're pointing back at you
Don't you think it's time to study the Paths of Peace?
You say you're standing up for Liberty
Well I've looked at your record and I don't agree
Don't you think it's time to study the Paths of Peace?
Well it seems like only yesterday
When the opium was planted by the CIA
Now the mothers on the streets they weep
Just as you sowed so we must reap
So when I listen to you I sympathise
But I'm looking at the world with other eyes
Realise it's time to study the Paths of Peace

Well you tell me about the Second World War
And all the things you were fighting for
Yes I guess it's true you were fighting for the cause of Peace
But I remember too how Pinochet
Was put in power by the CIA
And I don't call that working for the cause of Peace
And when I saw your Contra war
It made me know who I was fighting for
When I saw the women take a stand
To drive your missiles off my land
So when I listen to you I sympathise
But I'm looking at the world with other eyes
Realise it's time to study the Paths of Peace

You talk of Justice and Liberty
Is that the same law for you as it is for me
And can I trust you to uphold the cause of Peace?
Or is it one law for the sons of toil
Another for the black gold under the soil
Can I trust you to uphold the cause of Peace?
Or is it one law for the settlers' band
Another for the natives of the land
What use to me is your status quo
When I've got nowhere to live and nowhere to go?
So while I respect you for your point of view
I find that peace is my business too
Realise it's time to study the Paths of Peace
Realise it's time to study the Paths of Peace
Realise it's time to study the Paths of Peace
