Lyrics
I lay heavy on the couch with a grin
thinking back to the night that freed me.
The others had just said goodnight,
so we locked ourselves behind white walls.
Talking for an hour time was gone,
telling me the truth I pretended not to know.
It was a struggle to force the words out of her mind,
they trickled from her glossed lips in to my ear.
Piercing needles through my heart,
they sewed together my soul.
Behind the door they are suspicious,
I’m not satisfied but we leave.
Sober now we emerge from the room,
I suggest to take our sleepy selves home.
In the car we’re alone, there’s no one on the road.
I need to know how she feels.
We park alone in the dark where nothing matters.
I empty myself into her,
I cannot commit , I’m already bound.
Take her sweaty palms into mine
and kiss her as to say,
“I’ve never loved you”
It’s lust.
As our lips part the sun rises over smoking stacks.
Darkness crawls away from the car.
Put in reverse it takes us back
to the beginning, when we are friends.
