Story Behind the Song
This piece has been written using the Poisson chance distribution. This mathematical formula governs natural processes that are relatively rare. E.g., if in my town there is .6 baby born every day, the Poisson formula will tell me how high the chances are that today there will be one, or two or zero or seven babies born.
This formula is used to determine how many notes should sound in a given bar, how many 'ticks' it should last, etc.
The result is a very naturally flowing stream of sounds.
The larger form is based on Japanese classical music; most of the piece is a gradual accellerando, with a short and dramatic ritenuto at the end. Only there is a n introductory passage in the beginning that's a ritenuto too.
You may hear odd sounds, these are pages being turned (all page turns are composed into the piece!) and occasionally pages torn (at the borders of 'movements', of which there are ten).
