Story Behind the Song
This song talks about the fact that we never have the Answers to life in and of ourselves. Only by the power of God "the power above mine", is there the hope of finding out purpose in life.
The music and melody were created in the drummer's (Matt Furness) garage. Donovan Twaddle was playing bass. Matt wanted to try making a new song, because we had been jamming to our old songs for the past 2 months. So I started playing the riff for the verses, which ended up being in 6/8 time. It sounded cool so I started to make up some lyrics just to get a melody going. Donovan and Matt liked it so I started to put together some official lyrics. I think it turned out well.
Lyrics
In those idle times, I have jumped to conclusions.
Wasting precious time, living by my illusions.
Why don't I see, all my problems surround me.
Seeing through this fog I can't wait till I'm through and free.
Sometimes, I feel like I don't have the answers to the situations I must face.
But I've got to force myself to take chances, and everything will fall in place.
There is now new hope, in a power above mine.
No more counterfeits, I have seen in Him sure signs.
Take my word, I know He has broken us from our chains.
He's not dead and gone the proofs of His life remain.
