Story Behind the Song
This song first came into being in 1993 as lyrics with a snippet of melody. Mark and Brent refined the melody - particulary the chorus - but found that the time signature strayed from straight 4/4 there. It was a difficult arrangement task that I came back to years later and I and so pleased with the final result.
Lyrics
The earth remembers all your words, your promises and cries. The sea is like a looking glass that gives away your lies. The sun can feel your deepest pain, your emptiness and loss. The stars hold all your dreams tonight, forgetful of the past. Mother Nature has no fears. She waits, she knows, she hears. Mother Nature loves you still, through all these crazy years. The moon sings praises to your soul calling you to flight. The trees tell secrets to the wind about your darkest night. Mother Nature has no fears. She waits, she knows, she hears. Mother Nature loves you still, through all these crazy years.
