    Story Behind the Song
    From Elizabella Hallert:

"The guy I was hooked on lived in another state and both of us had responsibilities and obligations that kept us geographically incompatible. This song channeled my love and comforted me when I ached for his company.

Then, a couple of years later my best girlfriend passed away and suddenly this song became a way for me to reach out across the vortex to tell her how much I miss her.

We’ve all had to say goodbye at one point of another; This song can help with the aftermath."

    Lyrics
    I'm driving in my car,
    Just a rainy afternoon.
    Wishin' you were here;
I won't be seein' you any time soon.

The leaves keep changin' from red to gray.
Wishin' I could bridge the miles,
    Between you and me today.

But obligations, oh that's life it always seems,
And it makes me hold you, but only,
In my dreams, in my dreams,
Only in my dreams, in my dreams.

    Our history covers me,
    Like this winter quilt.
When I think about you and me,
I don't feel an ounce of guilt.
And you're gonna hold me on that thought I sip.
Then you write me that letter sayin' that you miss my lips.

And obligations, oh that's life it always seems,
And it makes me hold you, but only,
Oh it's only in my dreams.
In my dreams, only in my dreams,
In my dreams, only in my dreams.
My dreams, only in my dreams,
    In my dreams.

    INSTRUMENTAL

    I'm driving in my car,
    Just a rainy afternoon.
    Wishin' you were here;
I won't be seein' you any time soon.

The leaves keep changin' from red to gray.
I could drive one million miles,
And still not be with you today.

'Cause obligations, oh that's life it always seems,
And it makes me hold you, but only,
Oh it's only in my dreams, in my dreams,
Only in my dreams, in my dreams.
    Only in my dreams,
My dreams, only in my dreams,
    My dreams,

    It's only in my dreams.
