    Story Behind the Song
    From Brigitte Hallert:

    "During a visit to my home country of Germany, I was shocked to see the transformation of my aging mother. I remembered her statements from long ago when she was a very active, enthusiastic, and very witty woman with endless amounts of energy. She always had mentioned that she did not dread to get old and that she would always live life fully. Seeing her that year prompted this song."

    Lyrics
    The old have forgotten,
    To dream like the young.
    Cannot remember,
    They once had the sun.
    Once had the crystal ball,
    Spinning their days.
    Once had the whole world,
    Turning their way.

    REPEAT

    The old have forgotten,
    That the Fountain of Youth,
    Runs dry from Stagnation,
    And dies from abuse.
    It must be filled,
    No matter how old,
    With Spring-fresh waters;
    With thoughts of gold.

    INSTRUMENTAL

    The old have forgotten,
    How they got wise.
    Cannot remember,
    When they threw their dice.
    The old have forgotten,
    That when they were young;
    Swore they would never,
    Forget to have fun.
