Story Behind the Song
The setting:
Winter of 97. Half a year since our last demo was recorded. Lots of personal life changes have put the band on the back burner. On one December night I got into an argument with my best friend and drummer, Kevin Highfield and we hung up the phone and didnt speak to each other for a whole year. Ill get into that later up the chain. Determined to keep the band together, bassist Nick Poole and I convinced a 28-year-old drummer that went by the name Beef. It was an odd pairing but all three of us shared the fundamental addiction to playing music. With the drummer switch came a musical and personality shift. We dived deeper into the ABCs (fast, unmelodic, un-pc, dirty, and unpleasant to most people) of Punk rock. With the shift in music came my first shift of title or name. As you will see, I never ENDED a band without knowing there would be an instant pick up from where we may have left off. After looking through a dictionary for (3) hours, Nick, Dustin (nicks brother), and I came up with the name NoClass. First things first, time to record a demo.
The Scoop:
Recorded in the same small house studio as the previous two demos, this time we brought a little more talent and our songs were a little better. The only real difference came in a shift of attitude and turning the tempo up, way up. This demo doesnt do our live shows justice. Imagine what these songs (minus the lo-fi quality) can do to a crowd of angry dirty mean motherfuckers when its played real loud, real tight, and real fast. I loved this song because it was fast, simple, and had (3) very distinct vocals. 1) My snotty whiny screeching vocals, 2) Nicks growling barking vocals, and 3) Beefs melodic and eerie whoas. This demo got us our first review in MRR (maximum rock n roll). I dont remember exactly what it said but I do remember they praised it. Which put us on top of the world. Approval and acceptance from the punk rock bible from Berkley CA. We had to drive an hour to Atlanta, to buy this magazine. We were up to our neck in vinyl, buttons, and black sweatshirts with 80s punk band patches. OI!

I got a little problem with apathy
Wonderful, so wonderful
meet my wonderful life
Its a wonderful life
try and you'll see how easily
I got a little problem with sympathy
beautiful so beautiful
to hate this much
Its a wonderful life
