A favorite of many of our fans. Internet Gold record (500,000 plays or downloads on MusicBroadcast.Com)! If you love The Beatles, you WILL LOVE THIS TUNE! Top 40 in the psychedelic genre for 9 weeks. Reverend Flash says: "I'm listening to your song 'Ophelia Fair' right now. It definitely has that late 60's sound that only happened when the there was a meeting of the musical minds between Lennon and (producer George) Martin... It makes me suddenly mourn the absence of post-60's work from those two. And now for some play-by-play...Song starts out a bit trippy like a Donovan tune. Vocals kick in with an XTC-like melody. What's that - artificial double-tracking on the vocals? Nice effect. In fact, tasteful chord progression. It better be, if this song is gonna be 7 minutes long. No, that's real double-tracking. Very accurate doubling, though. Walrus-y break, with droning synth part and laughing. Bridge comes in with answer parts in the vocals - different band member singing there? The tune continues to build with other sounds - chimes, piano, harmonies... Not even halfway through yet, but it sounds like it's gonna fade-out any second. How can this be? More jamming on the piano. I see. Ah, more textured vocal parts with effects, and a soulful boost in the repeated hookline. Neat bassline - like a Hey-Bulldog thing or something. Oh, there's the ending. You did it. I thought you were gonna bore me, but I stayed interested. "Ophelia Fair" should actually be called "Ophelia Excellent".
