Story Behind the Song
this is a totally fictional song about a totally fictional girl. it was probably after a breakup. it was originally a really old crappy poem j wrote back in highschool and he was about to throw it away, but reworked it and came up with this power-pop classic.
Lyrics
why couldn't i
have been bolder?
i really wish
that i'd been bolder
as empty emotions
sit and smolder
i seriously wish
that i was bolder
my heart feels like a cold hard stone
in someone's field
there are so many flattened feelings
to rebuild
i only wanted to rock,
but now i am one, i suppose
now i sit out here
through all the rain
and all the ice and snow
why couldn't i have been
that much stronger?
then feelings would have lasted
that much longer
usually there's nothing
i won't wait for
but this time
i'm much too unsure
the weather pelts down
on my surface, on my head
i could hide but i'd much rather
sit outside instead
so tell me was it something,
was it something that i said
i lied to myself once
but my love still isn't dead
why can't i be bolder?
i really should have told her,
that's for sure
if i had been bolder
i wouldn't feel so much older than before
i guess i'll just have to hold her
that much more
