Story Behind the Song
Being a student of history I've come to understand the importance of a gun at the gate. We would not be the free country we are today without someone protecting our freedom every single day. Namely our young adults, thank you very much and much respect from one Jeff Rising. There is a great deal of difference between being ideal and being realistic, although I beieve the ideal should be the goal of all our efforts, let's not be fools with what we, and those who have come before us, have managed to achieve. The song is a personal look at the innocent victims of our nuclear testing program in the South Pacific. This is not to say that the testing should not have been done, but more of an honest commentary on the effect it had on the residence of this area. Make no mistake the price of this internet's freedom has been paid in blood. Let's not forget those who have lost their childern in name of this freedom.
Lyrics
Water reflecting breeze caressing the naked skin,
Heart beats proudly behing this boyish grin.
Sun sinks slowly casting shadows on this beach,
A moving silhouette against lands he'll never reach.
I wish I could tell how he turns out when grew old,
But his life story long ago was bought and sold.
The magic bomb we had to see what it could do,
Now it's raining down, red rain on me and you.
Chorus:
Pacific Son, Pacific Blue
I feel so helpless now there's nothing I can do.
All the reasons I should wonder why,
We left you all alone, alone to cry.
Eyes lift slowly to images that won't erase,
Of a different time when we stood behind disgrace.
It's a heavy weight we all carry it the same,
Ignorance the one escape from the rules of the game.
You can take a life and you can hold it in your hands,
Or you can throw it all away, and turn the seas into sand.
The magic bomb we had to see what it could do,
Now it's raining down, red rain on me and you.
Chorus:
Pacific Son, Pacific Blue
I feel so helpless now there's nothing I can do.
All the reasons why I should wonder why,
We left you all alone, alone to die.
