    Story Behind the Song
Valentine's Day is a huge conspiracy. They sucker all the couples in the world into spending money to say "I love you" which they should be saying anyways. Why just one day? Anyhow, in 2003 I was sick of the cycle of feeling guilty for being single and decided to start a new tradition. I wrote this song for a friend who had helped me out with the whole "The Awkward Silence" bit, and I'd never really said thanks to her. So you can change the name and put anyone in there that you want to say thanks to. But this song for me is about my friend Alison.

    Lyrics
    A Girl Named Alison
Words and Music by R.J. Skywalker Burks

    My friend Alison is crazy
For putting up with people like me
And every time I see her around
I'm sure I drive her up a tree

    Chorus:
But, Alison I want to thank you
For bending your ear to my strife
I feel like I've known you for years now
Thanks for being a part of my life

We met just last year in college
She saw my whole life fall apart
And now I swear she's trying to tell me
There's more to life than a broken heart

    Chorus:
Oh, Alison I want to thank you
For bending your ear to my strife
I feel like I've known you for years now
Thanks for being a part of my life

    guitar solo:

    Bridge:
I know some day you will be leaving
The wide world waits outside your door
And for every day that I have known you
I'll wish I knew you a couple more

    Alison I must be crazy
For making you put up with me
I don't know where fate will lead you
But I hope you don't forget about me
