    Story Behind the Song
This song kind of just fell together over a conversation I was having with someone about my first LiS-D show. It was to take place on the final day of February, which I affectionatley refer to as "the death of February". That month (mainly because of all the commercialized Valentine's Day crap) always tries to beat me down, but this particular year, I felt like I had won. So I wrote this song, rather quickly, and wah-la. Things kind of fell apart in the studio and I cut out a verse that I wasn't too wild about and threw in a very "classic rock" guitar solo instead. Magic in spontanaity.

    Lyrics
    Death Of February
Words and Music by R.J. Skywalker Burks

The rain is coming down two days 'til Valentines
And candy hearts and flowers are the farthest things from my mind
You're always so much colder than the gauges read
Maybe that's the way you transmit your disease
And on your final day I'll sing this requiem

    Chorus:
    February's died
And another year it has tried
To wage a war against me
    But I have survived
    I'll write your obituary
Now that my head is clear
    The death of February
And the start of my new year

    guitar solo:
And on your final day I'll sing this requiem

    Chorus:
    February's died
And another year it has tried
To wage a war against me
    But I have survived
    I'll write your obituary
Now that my head is clear
    The death of February
And the start of my new year

    Bridge:
    And I know
You can break my heart but you can't steal my soul
Release me from your broken ideas of love
    I'll say goodbye, say goodbye
Until we meet again next year
