    Story Behind the Song
We Played a gig in Newcastle, where Iain had lived prior to comming to London. The gig was with another band the drummer of which used to play in a band with Iain. As the day wore on Iain got more and more pissed and enjoyed catching up with old friends. By the time we took the stage he was pretty legless and abused the audience throughout the set.

Marc had taped the gig and gave Iain a tape of it so he could relive the moment and hear for himself what an arsehole he'd been.

To put it succintly the song is about the affects of being unable to control ones substance abuse, in Iain's case on that night alcohol.

    Lyrics
    It occurs to me
That this world is a very dark place
And the only light that can save us
Is the light that comes from my hole

I was killed by my own evil twin
    On a balmy summer's evening
As the lights twinkled at the poolside bar
    They formed a tunnel
And I followed it right to the end

    And I heard a voice
    Larger than life itself
It seemed to take a physical form
There were waves on the water
    And I walked across them
    And the lights went out
And I could no longer hear a thing

    And I buried myself
    Beneath a great tree
In the middle of an island
In the middle of a lake
    In a valley far away
Where a pinnacle to a mountain
Is the only pointer to my headstone

So don't even think of looking for me
    No search parties, no vigilantes
    There's nothing more to see
    So move along
I've been ground back to the earth
    That I came from
