This first single from Sleepy Dog and Super Cow, the Austrian side project of Baxter McGee and Agneau Panopra's the Red Queen Hypothesis, is actually a cover of another Rowntree Records Band called the Snatchclaws. A great protest song, antiviolence and all that, and it rocks the socks off the jocks what else could you want? |
CD: Analog Adventures through the Magical Land of King Lo Fi
Label: Rowntree Records
Credits: Production: Benedikt Schalk |
Story Behind the Song
The song was written by 'the Snatchclaws', friends of 'Sleepy Dog and Super Cow', but 'Sleepy Dog and Super Cow' gave it a new title and a new spin. The song was recorded in Baxter McGee's apartment in Vienna, Austria, well, at least the guitars and vocals. Then the 4-Track was transported across the city to Lanzendorf where Benedikt Schalk added all the drums and percussion and cleaned up the album for the final mix down. Hard way to record an album, but it is a classic song.
Lyrics
Calling all hearts that yearn to be free
It doesn't matter your color or creed
Enlist now and pay no extra fee
Let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
It's not prejudice to make fun of everybody
Do not be muted by reigns of bureaucracy
Time to laugh at the shouts of blasphemy
Let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
Art is non-violence just try it and see
Tip your hat to simplicity
throw a salute it's a joke between you and me
Let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
let music be your weapon
