Story Behind the Song
When I was 12 years old, I used to play git and piano in NYC at a club called the Hawaii Kai. My father was the music director and MC. After the 2 shows (per night)were done I would walk to the port athority bus terminal on 42nd st. to catch a bus home. This song is a story that I thought about when I saw all the hookers and drug addicts that used to hang out on 42nd st. I thought it was very sad to think that at one time they were just like me,an innocent child. When did that all change for them?
Lyrics
can you see, whats been going on
all tose things that we talked about
can I be so wrong
well you cry when you dont get your way
you powder your nose with your sexy clothes when your out to play.
I can see your falling down
when your falling to the ground
It's such a trajedy
on 42nd st.
(can you see theres somthing wrong and can you see your falling down)
I can see all those new priorities
I thought I knew who you were and who you want to be
dont cloes your eyes to who you used to be
you take off your clothes for that spoon up your nose is it really free
can you see whats been going on
and what do you think about when you hear this song
well you lie so you can get your way
you stay up all night then you put up a fight when you sleep all day
