A short piece packed with polyrhythms and a unique song structure. One of the few tunes that really showcase how we mixed the influence of King Crimson and the Cocteau Twins together. |

Story Behind the Song
This tune has it's roots in a short jam Deirdre and Gwynn had years and years ago. The original idea is a mixture of the two guitar parts based on two different time signatures. I think it's 9/8 and 8/8. Anyway, we loved the mood but, as with a lot of ideas, didn't know what to do with it until years later.
Gwynn eventually came up with the rest of the tune and it's structure. There is only one chorus and the verse is rebuilt after the bridge. The rhythms of the harmonics were based on and alluded to by the drum patterns in the first verse and once the main riff comes back it's alternating bass notes are in reverse order.
Progressive rock songs are supposed to be typically "long" and "epic". Gwynn's main goal was to create a short miniature that was crammed with compositional concepts that you'd expect in a piece maybe three times the length and still be able to convey the feeling that a story had been told.
