Story Behind the Song
Clouds cloak the sun, minutes later, they dissapate and the sun returns. This song is about the brief time where the light appears grey while the sun is obscured by clouds.
Written in the outdoors about 1993, then was recorded and released locally in Milwaukee in 1997 on the CD "Musik Fur Das Hexentanz", a rough translation from German is "music for the witches dance". Considered by many to be the definitive Cobalt Fur song as the song utilizes many influences but it is Led-Zeppelin that shines through the most. Led-Zeppelin is the sole, chief and single most powerful force that drives the band, so a song like this is therefore definitive of the bands musical direction which is ALL directions ala Zeppelin,Sabbath,Rainbow, the Breeders, L7, Pink Floyd,Mozart,Bach,Paganini and Beethoven.
Lyrics
Outside the sun is shining, but the rays never hit the ground. Blackened clouds surrounding me, and my head is spinning around. The sun has finally gone away, and the sky of blue is grey.
Now a sound is rising, to an echo in my head.
and now the light is fading, to a shadow of the dead. The sun has finally gone away, and the sky of blue is grey.
Outside the sun is shining, I see it clawing through the black, take a good look babies, next time it wont make it back. The sun has finally gone away, and the sky of blue is grey.
