Story Behind the Song
This song was written over a period of a month. The lyrics deal with coming to college and experiencing an entire new life, personally and socially (though they can be applied to many situations). The music was written in the Dorian mode, a somewhat generic place for a latin song, but it uses chromatic lines and switches to its relative major for a completely different, almost classic rock feel at times. Closes off with a big ol jam.
Lyrics
Here I go, step up to the plate.
I've finally arrived, not a moment too late.
Or am I here too early?
The fall seems too steep.
Look at my past, realize my future.
I breathe in deep.
You arrived to me in a dream,
And reappeared as a human being.
You helped me put the pieces of this puzzle together,
Formed an image priceless,
Sometimes I wonder,
When the waters rise,
When the tides come in,
Will you be there waiting with a smile?
Or will I be forgotten,
Pushed away for miles?
And as we climb this mountain,
will we reach a plateau?
If this so happens,
I'll be standing atop with my arms spread wide, leaning on the breeze.
Eyes closed, chin up, and i breahte in deep.
